Mellow Expeditions - @tgb1rch8
This week for Mellow Expeditions we spoke with @tgb1rch8 about his trip to Mount Agung which is an active volcano located in Bali, Indonesia. These are definitely the type of sunsets that you don’t get to see everyday! Here’s what he has to say about the trip..
The sunrise Mount Agung trek has got to be one of the most breathtaking experiences to date. It is an active volcano and the highest point in Bali sitting at 3031m above sea level. We hired a local experience guide to complete the trek who was very familiar with the mountain, which is key as the ascent will be in complete darkness through out the night.
We decided to take the longer route via Besikah temple to the western peak as this allowed us to reach the actual summit. It was a lengthy and challenging hike that started at around 12:00 AM and made quick progress so pitched up for some coffee and made a fire. Then headed on to reach the summit for 5:30 AM where we were rewarded with an unbelievable sunrise.
